After so much controversies, Finally Udta Punjab has managed to get ‘A’ certificate, with just 1 scene cut which was earlier 89 cuts.
The CBFC asked makers of the movie to cut 89 scenes from the movie in order to release it in theaters worldwide. Certainly, this was not acceptable by the producers who immediately took the CB to the High Court.
They filed a case against Censor Board over restricting the freedom of expression. Most of the Bollywood celebrities came in support of Udta Punjab and its star cast. The hearing took place on Friday.
The HC judge seemed to be in favor of the movie and things ended on a positive note. But it was said that the verdict will be given on Monday. But on Sunday night, agency ANI tweeted that the movie had been already censored and certified with an ‘A’ certificate.
From 89 cuts to only 1 cut, the HC announced the movie shall not go through 89 cuts.
